Sikkens Prize increased to € 75,000
The Sikkens Prize has been increased from 25,000 euro to 75,000 euro, making it one of the highest of cultural prizes in the Netherlands.
The prize money has been increased to 75,000 euro. The laureate is free to use 50,000 euro for personal
development, while 25,000 euro is intended for the realisation of a special project focused on colour. The Sikkens Foundation decided to increase the prize money to an amount which expresses the value to the laureate and fits the stature of the prize.
Chairman Lennart Booij: ‘The Sikkens Foundation wants to strengthen the connecting and inspirational power of art and creativity, and colour plays a distinctive role in this. This is now underlined by the increase of the prize money, which thus gives a substantial boost to the winner’s work and career and will contribute to art and culture in a broad sense.’
On 7 October 2024, the new laureate will be awarded the Sikkens Prize 2024 and receive the increased prize money.
