New award for the Sikkens Prize 2026
For the 2026 edition, laureate Otobong Nkanga received an award designed especially for the Sikkens Prize by designer and artist Winnie Teschmacher. The award is made of optically cut and polished glass, brass and maple.
The design combines craftsmanship with a carefully composed palette of materials. For the wooden parts, Winnie Teschmacher worked with woodworkers Jaap van Kemenade and Bart van Halem.
The award was developed especially for the Sikkens Prize ceremony and is a lasting art object that underlines the meaning and prestige of the prize.
